Calligraphy (Sho) performance "SEA"

2006, Chikujyo-an, Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture

An evening welcoming the Ambassador of Ethiopia to Chikujyo-an (designed by Rieko Kawabe) which overlooks the sea in Kamakura. For this improvisational performance, the artist chose to write a Chinese poem aboutthe sea. The performance was accompanied by the sounds of tsuzumi or the traditional Japanese drum played by Shonosuke Okura.
